Girl at First Communion

First Reconciliation

and Holy Communion

Children generally receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and Holy Communion as second graders. Students enrolled at Christ Our King-Stella Maris school receive sacramental preparation in school; other students prepare by attending Christian Formation classes.

Requirements

COK-SM School students must complete at least one full year of sacramental preparation in the School.

Christian Formation students must complete 2 years of sacramental preparation classes. No more than 3 Sunday absences are allowed in either Grade 1 or Grade 2.

Sacramental candidates who relocate from other parishes are asked to provide verification of prior enrollment and participation in a religious education program.

All parents and candidates attend Christ Our King's First Reconciliation Workshop and First Communion Retreat.

Liturgies

A communal Rite of Penance liturgy takes place in February.

Parents are encouraged to participate by receiving the sacrament.

A First Holy Communion Mass takes place in May.

Older Children

Sacramental preparation for older baptized children, grades 3 and up, may be arranged. Please contact Paula Damask (see below).
