As a natural outpouring of our faith, the moms group continue to do community outreach projects to help those
in our community who need our support. Once the Word of God touches our hearts, how can it not be realized
in our actions to those in need?
One particular project that one of our groups planned and executed was to have a baby shower for the
Florence Crittendon home for unwed young mothers. This endeavor blossomed into an ongoing project,
where some of our moms get together monthly to go to the Florence Crittendon home to spend time
with these young mothers. There is always some task involved, but the main purpose is to be a
friend and mentor to these young women. One of our moms has even gone through the training course
to be a labor coach. It has been a worthwhile program for all involved.
Two groups have adopted less fortunate families throughout the year, to help with birthdays,
Christmas, and basic needs. When our church donated a house to a needy family in Awendaw, a
group adopted that family and we helped wherever we were needed.
Meals, meals, meals is sometimes our theme. One group provides lunches for Shades of Hope,
which is an organization that helps battered and abused women. Anoter group provides dinners
to a family who lost the mom while she was giving birth to their third child. We are starting
to organize a group to work at the soup kitchen once a month.
Of course, we are always there for each other, through all our difficult times. Meals,
prayers, companionship and support in all forms are always there for one of us who may be in need.
