Patron Saint - Genevieve

Genevieve was born a shepherder around 422 near Paris, France. At the age of seven, she was one in a crowd gathered around the visiting Saint Germanus of Auxerre. He singled her out and asked Genevieve of she wished to serve God only. She asked that he bless her, and he propesized her future sanctity. At 15, Genevieve repeated her vows and took the veil.

In 451 she was in Paris and prophesized the invasion of the Huns led by Attila II. Genevieve trusted God completely, and her bravery rallied the Parisians together in fast and prayer.

One night in 486, while Paris was being blockaded and enduring a serious food shortage, Genevieve slipped past enemy lines and went village to village imploring help and gathering food. She returned to Paris successfully, with boatloads of precious corn.

By tradition she is credited with the conversion to Christianity of Clovis I, the king of the Franks, and his entire nation.

The life of St. Genevieve was one of constant prayer and works of charity. Many miracles in favor of Paris have been attributed to her intercession. Genevieve is the patron saint of Paris, of disasters, of drought and excessive rain.
