Christ Our King Christian Formation

The best gift a parent can give a child is the gift of faith.

Jesus with children At Christ Our King the approach to Christian Formation is twofold:

First and foremost, we see the parents as the main religious influence on their children. It is important to create an environment at home that has Christ at the center and where going to Mass every Sunday is a priority. It is also important that parents continue to work on their faith, so they will pass it on to their children. To assist in this life-long learning experience, we have several adult education programs.

Second, we realize the commitment that the community has in raising our children to know and love God. It is vital for anyone, no matter what age, to be connected to the parish community. Our catechetical ministry embraces each young person and strives to share the Gospel message with them. We have many dedicated members of our parish who are committed to sharing their faith journey with our youth who are registered in our Christian Formation program.

Where and when do we meet?
Classes for 3 and 4 year old children meet from 9:00 to 10:30 AM (during the 9:30 AM Mass). Children are dropped off at the Life Center (across from the Church) and picked up at the Christ Our King-Stella Maris School.
Kindergarten through 7th grade children meet from 10:30 to 11:45 AM (immediately following the 9:30 AM Mass). Children meet in the Christ Our King-Stella Maris School.

Christ Our King Church has established a Christian Formation class for special needs individuals to be sure that their religious needs are met. This program was designed for children whose parents desire that they be in a Sunday School Class, but due to their disability they have not been. Classes meet every Thursday afternoon from 5:00 to 6:00 PM in the Youth Center (located within the Christ Our King-Stella Maris School playground).

Beach House at Christ Our King

Dear Parishioners,

We are embarking on a new and exciting project and Christ Our King and hope that you will applaud and support this endeavor.

As you know, for at least the last twenty years we have had a very active Youth and Senior Ministries. Each of these has had a center that was originally built for use as a home. (The Youth Center was originally a store, which later became the frist rectory; the Senior Center was previously the home of a parishioner which we bought and adapted.

What we would like to do at this time is somewhat unique, but hopefully extremely beneficial to both youth and seniors. It is our hope to construct an intergenerational facility shared by both ministries. There would be space designated for each group, but shared space also, which will provide a wonderful opportunity for mutual influence, support, growth, and understanding.

The "Beach House" would be precisely that -- not an institutional facility but a home -- generating warmth and comfort, promoting relaxation and celebration. This webpage describes this concept.

Our goal is to build the "Beach House" to the standards of sustainable design established by the EarthCraft program. This acclaimed green building program out of Atlanta employs the latest methods of resource and energy-efficient construction.

Thank you for your support of and contribution to this unique concept.

Gratefully,

Rev. Msgr. James A. Carter, P.A.
