Separated and Divorced Support
2012 Separated and Divorced Schedule
Scores of separated and divorced men and women have been served by the Divorce Ministry at Christ Our King over the last several years. Both Pope John Paul II and Benedict XVI have emphasized the importance of divorced Catholics sharing in the life of the Church. This is vital since Catholic brothers and sisters can easily feel left out and even "second class" in terms of making a place in parish life after changes in their marital status. The Separated and Divorced Ministry offers a spiritual community fostering recovery from marital breakup through our support group.
The group is always open to new members and typically runs for ten sessions over a five month period. Topics include the emotions of denial, rejection, fear, grief, anger, shame, guilt, and loneliness as well as the areas of children, finances, relationships, dating, forgiveness, and annulment. Our meetings consist of informal discussions in an atsmophere of acceptance and prayer.
The dates and times will be announced in the parish bulletin. Sessions are held approximately every other Monday at 7PM in Camellia House at 1168 Camellia on the grounds of Christ Our King Church.
Divorce is about pain and grief, but through the loving involvement of the Church it is also about healing, forgiveness, peace, new life, and new hopes. Our 2012 session begins on January 30 (Denial and Rejection); February 13 (Fear and Grief); February 27 (Anger); March 12 (Shame & Guilt); March 26 (Children & Finances); April 9 (Relatives & Loneliness); April 23 (Friendship & Intimacy); May 7 (Dating & Self-Esteem); May 21 (Forgiveness and Surrender); June 4 (Annulment).
